Description
“You want to, but you can't.”
The work consists of a suspended marble slab, evoking the shape of a swing, above a mirror-polished black marble base, complemented by an LED light system. The combination creates a
floating, dreamlike optical effect in which the weight of the marble seems to defy gravity, while the
reflection in the mirrored black opens up a visual and symbolic space: that of memory, dreams and
lost childhood.
The swing is not only a playful object, but an emotional archetype: its swinging movement
represents the rhythm of time, the to and fro of emotions and memories. The mirror below refers
to an alternative world, a threshold between the real and the imaginary, where the line between
what we are and what we were becomes thin In this tension between matter and light, between gravity and levity, the artist investigates the possibility of finding poetry in marble, transforming its hardness into silent evocation. As Zhuangzi wrote, “The true sage has no self, no actions, no name.”In dreaming, ego dissolves; in suspension, freedom opens.
The reflection in the mirror questions us, as in the Platonic cave scenario: do we see reality, or only its shadow?
“The Dream Swing” is a work that invites an intimate dialogue between present and past, between being and imagining.
